ACNE

I trust that you have been having fantabulous days.My apologies for being away so long.Am back now.thanks for checking in to prettyhealthygirl  ,I do hope my posts are informative and educative

A reader asked me to tackle acne and  I will give you some tips n skills to deal with acne..Oh how it sucks when u wake up n look like you are hosting another life form on your face.Not to worry,follow these tips and you can be sure you will have less :(  days and more  :) days.


WHAT IS ACNE?

Acne is pimples,whiteads,blackheads and skin cysts.Acne is caused by hormones called androgens,which increase oil production.
The most common causes among ladies are increase in the hormone progesterone,oral contraceptives and some make up...and of course candidiasis (may manifest as an itchy feeling in your vajayjay accompanied by white curd-like discharge)

How to stop it 
 1. You can alter your diet here and there and include some supplements
   - Probiotics  --replenishes essential bacteria.reduces candida and acne outbreaks,especially during and after a course of antibiotics
   -Potassium supplements--defiency of this is associated with acne
   - Vitamin complex---antioxidants,promotes healing of your skin
2.Tea Tree oil
3.8 GLASSES OF WATER DAILY- NON-NEGOTIABLE.
4.fruits ----especially grapes,strawberies and pineapples.They are rich in alpha- hydroxy- acids which exfoliate skin by removing dead cells.
5. Eliminate dairy for 1 month..to see if it does improve
6.Of course avoid fats,deep fried foods,caffeine 
7.Change your contraception if using any hormone based types.Talk to your physician.



You may need to do one or all the above on a daily basis because we are all different.I personally use  St.Ives Swiss facial cleanser and follow it up with 100% pure coconut oil,this regimen really works for me,its inexpensive,easily available and doable .......try out a few products and let me know what works for you.

I do have to emphasize that with sensitive problem skin,the purer the better.Use less chemicals and cosmetics,try aloe vera,shea butter,coconut oil,olive oil.all in the purest forms possible

lets not despise the carrot,it's cheap and widely available...with just 20 bob you can enjoy a nice tall glass of carrot juice.
For those with uneven pigmentation,this could be your natural no-pill no side effects cure.How?you ask?
Benefits of carrots are numerous,i will name a few but today lets focus on carrots for your skin

1.Vitamin A in carrots prevents cancer
2.Safest vitamin A source compared to fish oils...vitamin A in fish oils,if overdone can cause Vitamin A toxicity.Not so with carrots.
3.Bright Glowing Eyes..need I say more
4.Great for bronchitis..a glass of carrot juice clears your chest right up
5.Reducies acne,wrinkles and fights off the effect of harmful UV rays from the sun
6.Carrots are rich in pottassium...preventing skin dryness
7.Carrot juice is anti-inflammatory,reduces scars and blemishes

DIY:
 Homemade Carrot Face Mask
You need:    4 small carrots,2 tablespoons honey,1 tablespoon olive oil(extra virgin)
  1. Peel the  carrots.
  2. Steam carrots and mash together with virgin olive oil and honey.If you have oily skin,you can omit the olive oil.
  3. Apply on your face and leave it in for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Rinse of with lukewarm wate
  5. Pat dry and apply your favorite moisturiser.
  6. Watch your skin glow in as little as a month.
                                                 CARROT AND BEETROOT MEDLEY
After a long hot day in the Nairobi sun,this really helps to pick me up..My apologies on the dark pictures,working on acquiring a better camera very soon
1.Peel about 8 small carrots and 1 small beetroot.You can leave the beetroot out if you don't like the taste.
2.Juice the ingredients and chill for an hour or so.or add ice cubes.
3.Enjoy


                                                                         FUN FACT OF THE DAY

     *  Never eat it if you dont like the taste,your body won't like it either. 



      * Mix it with mango or passion or whatever your taste buds fancy.

      * Have a glass of this every day (thank me later),but not more than 1 glass because your body will not       absorb it.
